Welcome Class 2019-2020

It has been a great start to the 2019-2020 School Year!  Our first week of September was filled with getting to know everyone in our grade, meeting teachers in our school and learning about our schoolwide expectations and schoolwide programs.  We practiced our skills at using the Zones of regulation.  We explored our school motto: "Be kinder than necessary." We learned ways to keep a growth mindset and we were reminded of behaviour expectations in the hallways, at lunch, at recess, and in the classroom.  Finally on Friday afternoon, September 6th we were assigned our classes.  This year, in Mrs. Elie's class, there are 26 students in Grade 4/5.  We are looking forward to a great year filled with GRA, Mystery Skypes, Spheros, Freshgrade, and of course making and being good friends and students.

Term 2

From December to March our class was very busy.  In Science we made models of systems of the human body while in Social Studies we investigated the three levels of government, voting rights and the history of residential schools in Canada.  We read a variety of picture books and completed a shared novel study of the book Fatty Legs.

When we come back in April we will be making posters, investigating simple machines, and learning about migration and immigration history in Canada.  Stay tuned for Multicultural Day, Student-led conferences, Track Attack and a Sphero Challenge.

Welcome to our 2018-2019 School Year

Students got off to a great start.  We are learning about the Zones of Regulation, Mindsets, Creative Thinking, and Social Thinking.  We are finishing the novel, A Boy Called Bat.  We are looking forward to participating in the global read aloud and reading the book, Amal Unbound.  We are hoping to  connect with a few classes from around the world.  We may participate in Mystery Skypes.

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year

Hello everyone!

It is hard to believe it is almost October already.  This year our class has gotten off to a great start. We have created our class charter, signed on to a Financial Literacy Online Course, practiced our skills at using the Zones of Regulation, and learned how to ask questions for our future Mystery Skypes.

This year our class has 23 students so far.  We speak many languages other than English and some of us are quite excited to be learning French too.  We are a creative group of polite and kind students. Some upcoming events include our Meet the Teacher night and the Terry Fox Run.  Make sure you check your planner for details.
