Student Digital Portfolios

It is hard to believe it is already November.  Thanksgiving, the Student Vote, FSAs for the Grade 4s, Halloween and the Remembrance Day Assembly kept us very busy!  In addition, students have been completing assignments, projects and activities in Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Art, French and PE.  You can view some of the highlights on your child's portfolio in Freshgrade.  Here is the link to login to your account.

Welcome Class 2019-2020

It has been a great start to the 2019-2020 School Year!  Our first week of September was filled with getting to know everyone in our grade, meeting teachers in our school and learning about our schoolwide expectations and schoolwide programs.  We practiced our skills at using the Zones of regulation.  We explored our school motto: "Be kinder than necessary." We learned ways to keep a growth mindset and we were reminded of behaviour expectations in the hallways, at lunch, at recess, and in the classroom.  Finally on Friday afternoon, September 6th we were assigned our classes.  This year, in Mrs. Elie's class, there are 26 students in Grade 4/5.  We are looking forward to a great year filled with GRA, Mystery Skypes, Spheros, Freshgrade, and of course making and being good friends and students.

Term 2

From December to March our class was very busy.  In Science we made models of systems of the human body while in Social Studies we investigated the three levels of government, voting rights and the history of residential schools in Canada.  We read a variety of picture books and completed a shared novel study of the book Fatty Legs.

When we come back in April we will be making posters, investigating simple machines, and learning about migration and immigration history in Canada.  Stay tuned for Multicultural Day, Student-led conferences, Track Attack and a Sphero Challenge.
